In a mere day the Desi x Katy Collab transitioned Dose of Colors from an Indie brand to a Household name. But way before the Desi x Katy Collab, Ana the owner created a makeup brand that can now be found in Ulta stores. I was propelled to purchase one of their new 5-matte eye shadow palettes partly to their sudden surge in popularity but primarily because I found them at IMATs. Now that we’re in February, I couldn’t be happier that I purchased the “Blushing Berries Palette”. Is it me, or is it not perfect for Valentine’s Day?
If you’re a makeup enthusiasts you’ll love the sleek, shiny, metallic red packaging. If you’re a makeup artist, you’ll love the rich, deep, pigmented colors that parallel the current “warm tone” trend. Each shade is universally flattering, creamy with the typical amount of fall out. So user beware – do your eyes first!
If the packaging wasn’t enough to pull out your credit card, please take a moment to peek inside. I’m normally not a fan of warm tones but I was drawn for some reason to palette. Although you only find five shades, each one provides versatility. If you are new to makeup or if you want a natural eye look that has color – quickly apply “Berry Chic” all over the lid with a blurred brown eye liner. You can then apply “Mixed Berries” to deepen the look for a beautiful Dinner- look. However, if you aren’t timid and the occasional calls for a sultry smokey eye – you’re set!
Below are the eyeshadow descriptions:
Berry Black – True black
Mixed Berries: Blackish Rose or Blackberry
Berry Pop – Bright Cool Toned Raspberry Pink
Rose Berry – A Terra Cotta Rose
Berry Chic – A dusty peachy Rose
The Blushing Berries palette is priced at $32.00 or an individual eyeshadow at $6.00. I’m not certain if the “Blushing Berries” palette is part of the Dose of Colors permanent collection.
