Let me introduce you to DOSE of Colors’ Matte Lipsticks.
Dose of Colors is a cruelty free, vegan makeup company created by Anna, @MAKEUPBYANNA; whose love for art and color provided the inspiration and drive to create her own cosmetics line.
Talk about admirable.
The collection of Matte Lipsticks come in 5 vibrant, bold, matte shades that retail for $18.00.
From Left to Right: Berry Me, Kiss of Fire, Purple Rain, Merlot and Pinky Promise
Each lipstick is packaged in a frosted glass tube with a white cap.
I’ll be frank, the bottle gives the appearance of the product being fancy.
If this is something of interest, the bottle looks as though it was purchased at a department store and not a drugstore.
DOSE of Colors’ Matte Lipsticks are part of a series of liquid lipstick out in the market.
For those of you who may not know, liquid lipsticks have the opacity of a lipstick but the longevity of a stain. These Matte Lipsticks are highly pigmented, however I’ve noticed that “Kiss of Fire” is rather translucent. I would recommend 2 coats to achieve ultimate opaqueness.
Rather than seeing this as a con, see it as versatility.
If you believe vibrant colors are atrocious or obnoxious, or not office appropriate, reconsider.
Vibrant translucent colors like these are great as bases, with a nude lipstick or lipgloss as a topcoat, you can easily subdue its vibrancy.
Unlike a typical doe foot applicator, this applicator has a slight indentation that truly hugs the contours of your lips. I really love how the Matte lipstick covers the entire lip with one application, but dislike how it lacks precision. You would need to use a lip liner for a precise application like the lips pictured below [Picture from Dose of Colors Website].
Be careful when applying the product as it does stain. I cannot stress how powerfully pigmented this is.
The first time I used this I stained my nose.
These Matte Lipsticks apply matte but do not feel dry like other Matte lipsticks. Kiss of Fire left my lips feeling comfortable and moisturized with a velvet finish.
If you have dry lips, I’d recommend prepping your lips with a lip scrub or a primer as it may apply patchy.
Seeing as this collection is vibrant, I’d wish the line played off their love for color and added prime colors to their collection to create original, personalized colors that last all day. As I said, these Matte Lipsticks do not transfer and literally last ALL day !
